I am extremely happy with the story turnout. What that means is likely there were double that who may have at least – started a story, but didn’t post. And triple that, who considered writing – because they had an idea. Basically, this started a snowball of creativity and we should all be delighted.
If you have a story written, please post it. You missed this round of voting. But if enough entries come, we could have a second round of voting for just the late stuff. Regardless, all posted stories are valued so don’t be afraid to share your creativity. The hard deadline to post is Jan 15th. After that, you will have to just wait for the next contest, which will be at the end of the month.
Thank you to all the story writers who posted. You are deeply appreciated! Hopefully next time we see some more of our regular writers involved and some of the old IO’s board writers as well. Let’s start this new year with a bang!

Preview (next contest)
The Naughty & Nice Contest. No restrictions. Other than you have to declare your story as either Naughty or Nice. The scoring (voting) will be aligned to either the Dark side or the Light side. One element will be combined votes for each team. Another will be just the top three stories. Will the Dark side win the war but not the most important battle? (first place) Or will one side take all? I think the dark side has an unfair advantage, but I also think a brilliant writer could do a surprising upset for the good guys.
Please read all the stories before voting. You have two weeks, until Jan 16th is when we will close the voting and announce the results – so you have lots of time. All writers should vote, as well. I hope many will vote. It’s 100% anonymous. To prove that it is 100% anonymous, you can use the free Survey Monkey and make your own poll and check the results. There are no IP’s or anything tracked (for the poll creator to see). So I hope everyone votes, after they read all the stories. Cheers!
As to the next contest. I wonder if ‘naughty & nice’ is too Christmassy sounding. Regardless I want to keep the same concept. A battle between the dark side and the light side. I’ll go more into what I think that is a bit later. Sometimes, it’s very grey and it’s more like 55/45 leaving one way of the other. Or 65/35 or any variant. A story could have a lot of heavy elements but be portrayed in a very light and safe manner. Or the opposite, a story could seem very light on the surface, but have dark undertones with and be all about manipulation and non-consent. Regardless of the flavours, every type of story can be excellent if well written. How do we know what side a story is on? Simple, the writer declares it as being on one side of the contest or the other. The light side or the dark side.
Yes, it sounds a bit vague as to what is on which side, but I think your suggestion to leave it to the author to decide will work nicely.
Thank you for organizing the story contests.
A concrete example for the next contest: “A story about a girl” is written. The writer posts it and in the first comment states that’s on the dark side. It was a tough choice, because it’s mostly light but there was a few elements that made the writer decide otherwise. So the story is posted. It comes up as winning 3rd place.
But every vote counted towards it in all columns (first, second, and third) also count for the dark side. Every vote made counts as a point for one side or the other depending upon what side it represents. So if votes for this story were (2 for first, 5 for second, and 11 for third) – then that is 18 total points for the dark side – that this one story has earned.
Let’s say the first place winner was also dark. But the second place was light. In the end we can say that the dark side won both the main battles (first and third) plus the dark side won the WAR… as there are in total more dark points than total light points. So it’s just a normal contest with 1,2,3 positions but also a sort of team sport for each side. That’s the basic idea. So even if your story doesn’t come in first second or third, it will still likely earn some points for one side or the other.
If we look at the Naked Fiction examples we can see that we have both types in there. Naturally, we are talking about dark – within the confines of the Site Guidelines. Which is pretty much the same as IO’s old board, except the 18 age limit.
The contest didn’t start yet. I’m just posting about it now to give writers a head start. Time to think and dream.
But before we go on about a future contest, let’s get back to reading and voting on the current 25+ lines of dialog contest. Right now we are having a shortage of voters. So please read all the stories and vote. What top three stories were your favorite?
“You should add links to all the dialog stories here,” Blair said, scratching his chin as if it were a brilliant idea. “That way people can easily read everything before voting.”
Brilliant? Not really. That’s why I sent it to you anonymously. So you could use it or ignore it.
The idea that does merit being called brilliant? This story contest.
So many stories! Quantity and quality. And many of them wouldn’t have been written were it not for the contest. Mine, for example. Others as well.
And all these writers! Based on what I’ve read here, several of them are posting fiction for the first time (or fiction in English).
That, my friend, is the definition of brilliance.
Just submitted my picks. Great job everyone. I had fun reading through each submission. Thanks to all of the writers that entered and special thanks to ReaderMan for starting this contest and providing so much encouragement for the community to write and engage.
Thanks Kinsey. I also had a great time getting caught up in the imaginations of our writers. The amount of passionate creativity was inspiring and you gotta love the story lines and the questions they invoke.
Why did Elynea’s spell fail and what was the fallout? Naked at a New Years party, but not speaking? Will Sophie’s Christmas party be epic, and can Teddy handle it? Will Austin love his dramatic present and will Luke forgive him? What was naughty Aubrey smoking? Does Allegra like being ogled? Did Beth survive the experiment and was her final choice surprising? Do dogs like peanut butter?
If you know the answers to most these questions, don’t forget to reward the writers with comments and votes. The more the merrier. The results will be posted on Jan 17th. Thanks everyone!
This is the last weekend to vote. Monday I will display the results. But more important than that is the good feeling we all have about all of the writers that bravely participated and the generous comments that were posted in support. Thank you everyone!
Your writing style is cool and I have learned several just right stuff here. I can see how much effort you’ve poured in to come up with such informative posts. If you need more input about Thai-Massage, feel free to check out my website at UQ4
