This contest is not just about individual stories, but it is also a war between the (Dark Side) and the (Light Side).
Scoring details below in a comment.
How to participate.
- First, write a short story. It’s a mistake to pre-think of it as light or dark. Just write a story you like without thinking about the allegiance that you will side with until the story is complete.
- After the story is finished, decide if it is light or dark.
- Post the story with a (D) or (L) after the name
It is critical to declare your stories allegiance within the story name (L) or (D)
It doesn’t matter if your story is L or D and there is no wrong answer. It’s simply what you want it to be. In fact the harder it is for you to decide, likely the better your story is as the best stories tend to be in the middle. But it’s not uncommon for stories that are leaning strongly into the L or D side to also kick ass.
This contest is open to all styles. Be it positive naked feelings, romance/friendship, nudism, embarrassment, stripping, OON, bdsm, permanude, forced nudity, blackmail, degradation, betrayal and slave stories. We want the full range here as it will be interesting to see where the votes go and what tends to be popular.
Keeping in mind of course writers are a tricky bunch. A slave story could be totally light and fun, likewise so can a blackmail story. And vice versa, positive naked feelings and romance can be dark. So have fun.. and surprise us!
The contest ends on April 1st. So that’s over 7 weeks.
You don’t have to feel like a team player, to participate. It’s totally fine to just post a story ignore that aspect. This is mainly just about enjoying naked stories. Also, we really are all are on the same team, regardless of the side we choose.
Good luck!
How does it work?
If a single dark story earns 7 votes then the (Dark Side) also earns 7 points for the entire ‘dark side’ team.
For example, say we have 4 stories and the voting goes like this:
1st – Blackmailing Beth (D) 11 votes
2nd – Janet plays Strip poker (L) 9 votes
3rd – Mailgirls having fun (L) 6 votes
Ponygirl romance (D) 3 votes
‘Team Darkside’ total: 11 + 3 = 14
‘Team Lightside’ total: 9 + 6 = 15
Darkside takes the most important battle, but Lightside wins the war (15 votes total)
The Light side is declared as the winners, but the dark side has some serious bragging rights by taking first place.
So in other words, a really great and close contest, and no matter how the votes turn out, every L story gets a ‘winning-the-war-badge’ for being on the side that won.
That’s the basic idea.
Jesus, Readerman… how will I ever finish part 1.5 of my social experiment if you come up with such intriguing and motivating contests?
Ok… on your insistence I´ll have some fun with a short story. The name of my story will be:
“how to end a dry spell in style”
A very cool short story name GrumpyOldDom. I hope my work lets up enough so I can contribute as well. As you can see it’s completely open. If anyone feels it’s TOO open, then feel free to write about Valentines Day if you must. It’s a good holiday to support both light and dark chocolate.
What is a dark nudity story? That’s up to each writer, but for myself I like to think of dark nudity stories as being a story designed to ‘enjoy’ the misfortune of the main character, often non-consensual by a bully type or some kind of betrayal or blackmail. Again, it’s hard to tell with a lot of stories being in the middle but I’ll give some clear examples.
Lady Lucia’s style, is amazing, she writes great, teasing style, dark stories.
Or a story where something is very serious, like in a world where sex slavery is legal (usually temporary as a replacement of prison or voluntary collateral for a loan), but the story takes a more suspenseful or teasing approach. ‘Accidentally on purpose’, comes to mind here as a dark story that leans towards the middle.
But clearly leaning towards the dark side can also be fun. For example, ‘Katie Smith stories’ are pretty much their own formula. It’s a short story world/format where Tracy suffers so many different things by the same people. Lots of writers have tried to add their flavor to a Tracy Smith story. Emphasizing one bad day or unfortunate situation. This would be a perfect way for new writers to start with some structure or old writers to have fun with a new idea. Some of these nude stories even crossover into the slave realm for added suspense and heavier stakes.
Like our very own Hooked6 wrote some great ‘Katie Smith’ slave-style stories. He inspired me to consider trying my hand in that sub-genre one day. They can be short and perfect for a contest.
Mailgirl stories are quite flexible. They can be light, dark or in the middle. So can slave stories, if you play around with the ideas enough.
And finally, Joe Doe is a legend in the dark arena. His stories are delightfully suspenseful and often full of ENF nudity. His ‘A very scary Halloween’ is a classic, well-written, dark-style story.
What is a light side story? Anything where the main character’s wellbeing is important and likely has a happy ending, but not always. Light isn’t meaning it’s not ‘heavy’ with drama or action or consequences. It’s more about the feel of the story. Like for example, CountryMouse writes light stories, but the actual story matter is fairly serious or even darkish. But the style is so fun and light that it’s most likely a light-side story, right?
Light stories tend to explore the more subtle things between people and/or simply enjoy safer environments. ‘Claire and the boys next door’ is an example. Molly’s stories are probably all light-side, even though they often have heavy drama, because the main character is usually in control. Some stories are hard to tell if they are light or dark. Or maybe they are a little of both. In that case, it’s the writer’s choice what to declare the story as.
I was talking with someone that was a little hung up on the LD aspect of the contest. Not by much, but just enough to make me feel I wanted to explain it a bit better. So that’s what this post is.
So I like to think… that the best stories are somewhere between L and D. That said, I do like a well written dedicated L or D story as well. But when you combine the L and D, what you get is a richer story. A light story with some edge. A dark story with some real human drama and light funny moments. So yeah, the grey area is where it’s at. The best D stories lean towards L. And the best L stories have a little D. It’s true – because you are playing with more range. And that’s where the inspiration for this contest came from.
And so if you are thinking to enter the contest and are not sure what to do, about if you want an L or a D story, then you are thinking about it wrong. That shouldn’t even be on your mind. As stated, up there in the description, the way to do this is… first write a story, something you like. It can literally be anything. And after you are done you give it an L or a D. If you can’t decide then flip a coin. Or pick a side you like. Don’t let this tidbit hang you up. The LD thing is just a side novelty to make the scoring a more fun. Something to play around with and talk about. Oh… the L side is kicking ass. Will the D side make a comeback? That sort of thing. It’s not supposed to influence you as you are thinking what to write about. You just write what you like. Pure and simple. Then give it a letter.
ReaderMan — you and your Story Contests! OMG!
But — you got me! I’m working on an entry.
Your long-winded Light vs. Dark explanations are getting a bit confusing (like many, I imagine I already know the difference between Light and Dark, even if I’m wrong, lol). But I’m sure they are helpful to some. And all the suggestions of plot ideas were interesting to read through.
I’m going to attempt to be on the Dark side this time. I imagine, that’s a bit out of character for me. But, maybe not. My current story, as you know, is paused on a cliffhanger that involves the protagonist closed in a car trunk. That’s a bit dark, right? So first, I need to post a ‘next’ Jessa Meets Her Match chapter (coming in a day or two), and then I will work on a contest entry.
I’m very much hoping that we again see A LOT of stories and hopefully a NEW AUTHOR or two. It was all the stories and the fresh talent that made the last contest so fun! So, join with me, and get writing!!!
Best,
Blair
By the way, I’m glad you’ve given us some time for this. I imagine that few people can drop everything and crank out a story on short notice. So, until the end of March. Good choice.
The dark side eh? That will be interesting for a BPClavel story. I’ll try a story in the middle and decide when I’m done if it’s L or D. I hope it goes L so that I can help out the opposing team! Hmm… now I’ll have to think of short story idea…
So that’s two stories coming up. That’s great! Plus I know of one other person considering an entry so far. I hope we have other writers that are at least thinking about it.
So that leaves me. I need to think of something.
I briefly had an idea about a clothing optional beach. And then another idea set in Mexico, which now I am having second thoughts about because I haven’t been to Mexico and some people have been there a lot. I could write a story in the future about a female Mech Commander, or a female fighter, a smart leader of an adventuring party of henchmen. I just can’t decide. What are some great ENF stories to draw ideas from? But something that can be wrapped up quickly in a short story.
Those ideas are great ReaderMan, you should write them both, but maybe you should write about the adventuring party first? The mech commander sounds more challenging.
I have 3 possible stories that would suit the dark side:
One is a futuristic Star Wars story.
The other is a continuation of Allegra’s adventures. The Mean Girls story was a prologue to it.
Then a Victorian haunted house with Gerard and Ana Chadbourne.
I have a feeling which one will win out.
I’ve pivoted back to the story set in Mexico. The adventuring party was a close second, but will likely have to wait for a different contest. The mech commander idea is shifting as it sits in my mind. Both the fantasy and sci-fi are somewhat gritty stories. The Mexico story is a stronger candidate for a pure ENF story.
As to your three choices. Recently you have been asking about monsters, so I’m thinking that’s the direction that you have picked.
Interested in all of those potential stories ReaderMan. I’m most excited about the Mech Commander, I really liked Bubblegum Crisis 2040 where the Knight Sabres all had to be women of a specific body type in order to use the mechanism suits most effectively. The suits were literally poured on to them while they were naked.
I was actually fishing to see what story might interest people most. Having trouble deciding what to work on.
I was thinking the more serious environment of BattleTech. But your idea sounds good too, although I wouldn’t know where to start with that type of style.
Oh if you are fishing, I’m interested in seeing more of Allegra as we now have a connection with her so it’s easier for you to just dive into some new story. However, if you are feeling like you need a break then I am also curious what you have in mind with the Gerard and Ana. But if you want to start fresh then of course you have the Star Wars story which would be fun to see – but no abusing those Jedi powers!
Hi ReaderMan,
According to “The Dark vs Light Contest”, I’m about to publish my new short story on this website, but I’m facing this problem:
My original story, is written as some kind of Matriochka, where you can find a story, a story in the story, and another story completing the second one according to the main one.
In my French version, I published my work as a single story, but in English, I intended to publish it in two distinct chapters. Of course, one Dark, and the other Light.
The problem I’m facing is that I can’t choose what is the best solution to publish my story:
1) A single story :
– “The two Sides of the same Coin – (D+L) => (L)”,
2) Two chapters of the same story:
– “The two Sides of the same Coin – Tails (D)”,
– “The two Sides of the same Coin – Heads (L)”.
Then, the problem is that the reader should start with “Tails” (and not Heads).
I’m pretty sure that “Heads” is more easy to read than “Tails”. But, as the writer, I prefer “Tails” which is a little more difficult because I mixed Plato and Epicurus in a sex slavery story (which may clearly surprise some readers).
Thank you for your help.
Helen.
Hi Helen, it’s fine. You can make 2 posts under the same story title.
So maybe story title is… “Two side of the same Coin”
But with each ‘post’ label the chapter name with ‘Tails (D)” and “Heads (L)”
And I can have the voting treat each chapter separately.
So don’t worry. It’s all good.
