Thanks CountryMouse. It’s probably a tad bit early to be voting. More stories are still appearing. But this seems like an interesting and visible way to vote. Do we want to keep the old voting system, or try just having each of us vote here in this thread? What does everyone think?

I believe that the secret ballot is surely best. First off, I imagine that there will be those who will not vote should they need to do so publicly. Also, there could potentially be hurt feelings — what if a story were to garner no votes?

PS: CountryMouse — my sincere thanks. I’m delighted that you enjoyed my story. I personally have quite a bit of reading to do before I am able to pick my favorites. I’m glad to see all the entries and imagine that we have a few more to come.

I trust the site runners to do what they think is best. I don’t mind voicing my vote because writing is hard and I have nothing negative to say about any of the entries. I enjoyed them all, these were simply my favorites.

ReadrMan: You should add your Rickshaw story to the list.

The Light vs Dark contest due-date has been extended. The world news in the last month has been somewhat distracting and has cut into my writing time. So I’m going to assume that might be the case for a few other writers as well. So let’s take it easy and extend the contest for a few weeks. This will give a few of us late stragglers a chance to participate and provide more stories for our readers, while also reducing time-pressure stress for the remaining stories currently being written.

CountryMouse: Add my rickshaw story? lol… no, the idea is to encourage new creativity and fresh posts. That said, it’s perfectly fine to add previously written stories that haven’t already been posted to this board. The more the merrier!

This is the last week of the Dark vs Light contest. Voting will start next weekend, likely Sunday. Thank you to everyone that participated, and I hope the contest deadline extension didn’t bother anyone. If you have free time, please read the stories that have been posted so far and be ready to vote.

For those restless writers that can’t wait for the next contest. I’ll give a short preview. We started with a dialog contest, to help us focus on bringing our characters to life. Then Dark/Light for a wider range of possibilities, with grey as a potential gravitation point. Our next contest will focus on brevity, structure and polish. This will be accomplished by simply limiting the size of the story to a strict 4000 word maximum. As always, we expect to see a little skin in the game but it doesn’t have to be the main focus.
